CB Insights has released its 8th annual Fintech 100 list, highlighting the world’s top 100 most promising private fintech companies that are shaping the next generation of financial services.
Selected from over 15,000 startups worldwide, this year’s cohort spans 26 countries and covers 14 categories — from crypto payments and AI-driven finance to embedded banking, payroll, and wealth management.
AI Takes the Lead in Financial Workflows
AI is at the core of this year’s Fintech 100. Eleven of the selected companies are building AI agents for specialized financial tasks, automating everything from fraud detection and accounting to debt collection and payroll.
Examples include:
- Borderless, whose AI agent Alberni (built with Cohere) automates global employment and payroll.
- Greenlite, which uses AI agents to accelerate AML reviews.
- Murphy, a debt recovery platform reporting 40% higher recovery rates using agentic models.
Some fintechs are even building payments infrastructure for AI agents — like Catena Labs, which enables autonomous payments, and Crossmint, developing blockchain wallets that allow AI agents to hold and spend funds independently.
Key trend: “Agentic AI” is moving from hype to utility — embedding itself into the core of financial systems.
AI Is Rebuilding Enterprise Finance from the Inside Out
Seventeen companies in this year’s Fintech 100 are reinventing financial operations using AI. Platforms like Campfire, Xelix, and Niural are automating reconciliation, supplier management, and global payroll — turning finance teams into real-time, data-driven operations.
Meanwhile, payroll players such as Khazna, InstaPay, and Every are expanding into embedded finance, offering salary access, digital banking, and cross-border payments.
This shift is transforming payroll systems into anchors of financial ecosystems, connecting HR, banking, and fintech in one workflow.
Crypto Payments and DeFi Go Institutional
Digital assets are no longer the outliers — they now represent the largest sector in the 2025 Fintech 100.
Infrastructure providers like BVNK, Rain, and Noah are building stablecoin payment rails for global commerce, while Transak integrates crypto directly into enterprise workflows. Consumer players such as RedotPay and Baanx are expanding crypto card access via Visa and Mastercard.
On the institutional side, licensed firms like Komainu, DigiFT, and RD Technologies are developing custody, tokenization, and stablecoin frameworks that align with regulators in markets such as the UK, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
💬 “The focus has shifted from speculation to infrastructure — crypto is becoming an everyday part of financial operations,” CB Insights notes.
