Experian brings personalised credit scores into ChatGPT

UK consumers can now access their personal Experian Credit Score through ChatGPT following a major upgrade to the credit-data company’s app for the AI platform.

After connecting their Experian account, users can securely view their 1,250-point score, see how it has changed over time and examine a breakdown of the information contributing to it. The app can also display comparisons of selected current-account offers.

Experian says the personal score appears inside a secure, authenticated widget and is not exposed to or used by the underlying AI model when generating responses. Users seeking their complete credit report or more detailed recommendations will be directed to Experian’s own app and website.

This is a significant expansion of the Experian app introduced in March 2026. The original version used aggregated and anonymised data to compare typical credit scores across age groups and postcode areas but did not provide access to an individual’s score.

The upgrade demonstrates how AI assistants could evolve from sources of general financial information into interfaces for authenticated financial services. It could also establish ChatGPT as a new distribution channel for credit monitoring and financial-product comparisons.

Revolut applies to establish a bank branch in Finland

Revolut Bank UAB has applied to establish a banking branch in Finland as part of its wider European expansion strategy.

Kuba Fast, the recently appointed CEO of Revolut’s European banking entity, confirmed the application. If it receives regulatory approval, the branch would allow Revolut’s more than 250,000 Finnish customers to obtain local Finnish account numbers.

The company expects this to make the accounts more convenient for receiving salaries, paying bills and managing other everyday transactions.

The application should not be confused with a banking licence approval. Revolut has confirmed that it has started the process, but the proposed branch has not yet received regulatory authorisation.

Establishing local branches and issuing domestic account details are important parts of Revolut’s ambition to become customers’ main bank. Although its Lithuanian banking licence allows it to operate across the European Economic Area, local account infrastructure can remove practical barriers that prevent customers from using a foreign IBAN for all their financial activity.

AWS launches payment infrastructure for autonomous AI agents

Amazon Web Services has made Bedrock AgentCore Payments generally available, allowing developers to build AI agents capable of paying for digital services.

The infrastructure enables agents to discover and purchase access to APIs, online content, Model Context Protocol servers and services offered by other agents. It was developed with payment technology from Stripe and Coinbase.

AgentCore Payments supports wallet authentication, configurable spending limits, transaction monitoring and machine-payment protocols including x402 and MPP. Developers can therefore permit agents to make transactions while retaining control over budgets and authorised payment instruments.

The launch follows a preview introduced earlier in 2026. Moving to general availability means AWS now considers the service ready for production use.

The development adds another major technology provider to the emerging agentic-payments market. This week, Rain also launched an alliance involving Visa, Mastercard, Circle and more than 20 other organisations, while Stripe confirmed its acquisition of AI model-routing platform OpenRouter.

Together, these developments suggest that payments for autonomous software are becoming a distinct infrastructure category rather than remaining an experimental use case.

Natural secures up to $100 million for AI-agent payments

Natural, a company building payment and financial infrastructure for autonomous AI agents, has obtained a credit facility of up to $100 million from investment firm Upper90.

The new facility comes in addition to approximately $40 million in equity financing previously raised by the company. It is important to distinguish the transaction from a conventional $100 million funding round: the money represents debt capacity intended to support Natural’s payment and credit products.

Natural currently provides tools that allow AI agents to hold money, make payments, request funds and transfer them between parties. It plans to add billing, payment acceptance, card issuance and credit products.

According to the company, payment infrastructure is not purely a software challenge because providers also require access to capital as transaction activity grows.

The deal suggests investors expect autonomous agents to require working capital and credit facilities, rather than simply wallets and payment-execution technology.

Monzo activates its backup bank during an outage

Monzo activated its independent backup system, known as Monzo Stand-in, after experiencing a technical disruption on 19 August.

Some customers reported difficulties accessing app functions, viewing their money pots and completing internal transfers. More than 3,000 reports were registered through Downdetector during the incident.

Despite the disruption, Stand-in allowed customers to continue making card payments, withdrawing cash, freezing cards and sending or receiving bank transfers. Monzo subsequently restored its normal services.

The outage is notable because it provided a live demonstration of the digital bank’s fallback infrastructure.

Service interruptions at app-based banks can leave customers without branches or alternative ways to access their accounts. A separately operated backup environment can therefore become an important competitive and regulatory advantage, provided it continues to support the most essential banking functions during a failure.

BitGo secures virtual-asset registration in South Korea

The Korea Financial Intelligence Unit has accepted BitGo Korea’s registration as a virtual-asset service provider.

BitGo says its local entity is the first newly established South Korean subsidiary of a global digital-asset company to obtain the registration directly. Other international crypto businesses have entered the country by investing in or acquiring existing licensed operators.

The approval allows BitGo Korea to provide digital-asset custody and transfer services to institutional and enterprise clients. The subsidiary is backed by Hana Financial Group and SK Telecom.

The registration comes as South Korea introduces stronger requirements for virtual-asset providers, including additional scrutiny of major shareholders, financial condition, cybersecurity, internal controls and anti-money-laundering systems.

For BitGo, the approval provides a regulated onshore route to serve banks, asset managers, companies and other institutions in one of Asia’s most active digital-asset markets.

PayPal and Venmo expand into university payments

Students and their families can now use PayPal and Venmo to pay tuition and other university fees through three major US campus-payment platforms.

The payment options have been integrated with Illumia, Nelnet Campus Commerce and TouchNet. Initial participating institutions include Butler University, Kansas State University, Michigan State University and Texas Tech, with additional universities expected to follow.

Customers can fund payments using their PayPal or Venmo balances, connected bank accounts or payment cards. Processing fees may apply depending on the university and the funding method selected.

The integrations extend the two digital wallets into a large category of recurring payments that has traditionally relied on bank transfers, cheques and card transactions.

For PayPal, the initiative creates another opportunity to position its wallets as general payment tools rather than services primarily associated with ecommerce and transfers between individuals.

Ant International upgrades its AI forecasting model

Ant International has introduced FalconTST 2.0, an updated AI model designed to forecast cash flows, liquidity requirements and foreign-exchange exposure.

The technology was initially developed to help Ant manage its own cross-border payment flows. Versions of the model have since been incorporated into systems operated by Barclays, Citi and Standard Chartered.

Ant International claims FalconTST 2.0 can achieve forecasting accuracy above 93%, although this figure has been provided by the company and has not been independently verified.

Unlike consumer-facing financial chatbots, the model is designed for operational use inside treasury and payment systems. It analyses time-series data across different frequencies to help businesses anticipate their currency and liquidity needs.

The launch illustrates how financial institutions are applying AI not only to customer service and product recommendations but also to core financial operations.

The wider picture

Three themes stand out from today’s developments.

First, AI platforms are becoming financial-service interfaces. Experian’s ChatGPT integration moves beyond general education by introducing authenticated personal financial data.

Second, agentic payments are progressing rapidly. AWS is providing transaction execution and governance, while Natural is building wallets and credit infrastructure for autonomous software.

Finally, localisation and resilience remain important differentiators for digital banks. Revolut is seeking domestic account infrastructure in Finland, while Monzo has demonstrated how an independent fallback system can preserve essential services during an outage.
