UK-based digital bank Monzo has hit a major milestone, now serving over 13 million customers, strengthening its lead over rivals like Revolut, which has more than 11 million users in the UK.
The app-based bank gained 1 million new customers in just the past three months, with May and June 2025 marking its fastest growth on record. The total figure includes more than 700,000 business accounts, a sector Monzo entered only a few years ago but which has rapidly expanded.
According to the company, around 1 in 5 UK adults now holds a Monzo account, with nearly two-thirds of new sign-ups coming through word-of-mouth recommendations rather than paid advertising — a testament to the brand’s strong customer loyalty.
With this pace, Monzo is solidifying its position as one of the UK’s most influential neobanks, continuing to challenge both digital and traditional banking giants.
