PayPal is pushing cryptocurrency payments further into the mainstream with the launch of Pay with Crypto, a new solution that enables U.S. merchants to accept payments in over 100 cryptocurrencies while dramatically reducing cross-border transaction fees.

The service offers near-instant settlement by converting crypto into stablecoins or fiat, integrating with wallets such as Coinbase, MetaMask, Binance, and Kraken. With a flat transaction rate of 0.99%, PayPal claims it can cut international payment costs by up to 90% compared to traditional credit card processing.

Pay with Crypto connects merchants to a global market of more than 650 million crypto users and covers 90% of the $3+ trillion cryptocurrency market cap. Beyond cost savings, merchants can store proceeds in PayPal’s PYUSD stablecoin, earning up to 4% yield when held on the platform.

According to PayPal CEO Alex Chriss, the move aims to remove long-standing barriers in global commerce:

“We’re helping businesses of all sizes accept crypto payments, reduce costs, and reach new customers around the world.”

The launch comes shortly after PayPal announced PayPal World, a partnership uniting five major digital wallets to simplify cross-border transactions.

Pay with Crypto will be available to U.S. merchants in the coming weeks, positioning PayPal as a key player in merging fiat and digital currencies for seamless, low-cost international trade.
