Wise Platform has officially expanded its footprint in the Nordic region through a strategic partnership with Lunar, one of Scandinavia’s leading digital banks. This collaboration makes Lunar the first financial institution in Denmark to integrate Wise’s infrastructure directly into its mobile banking app — bringing fast, low-cost, and transparent international payments to over one million users across Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.
Seamless Global Transfers, Now in Your Lunar App
The new integration allows both private and business customers of Lunar to send money to more than 160 countries in over 40 currencies, all from within the familiar interface of their banking app. Transfers are processed via Wise’s advanced global infrastructure, which connects to six local payment systems and holds over 70 licenses worldwide, enabling up to 65% of payments to arrive in under 20 seconds — depending on the destination.
This marks a significant leap in cross-border payment efficiency for the Nordic region, historically underserved in this domain compared to the UK or Western Europe.
Fintech Synergy: From Infrastructure to End-User
While Wise already used Lunar’s own banking tech platform (Moonrise) to support local clearing in Scandinavia, this next phase deepens the relationship by embedding Wise’s white-label payments directly into Lunar’s customer-facing products.
“This collaboration lets us offer fast, easy, and fairly priced international payments without users ever leaving our app,” said Ken Villum Klausen, CEO and Founder of Lunar. “It’s a great example of how fintech partnerships can simplify banking for everyone.”
Wise Platform’s General Manager for EMEA, Manuel Sandhofer, added:
“Digital banks like Lunar are reshaping user expectations. With Wise, they can now deliver on the promise of instant, borderless money movement — seamlessly and securely.”
What This Means for Nordic Users
For customers in Denmark, the feature is live starting this week, with a phased rollout planned for Sweden and Norway in the coming weeks. Both individuals and businesses can benefit from faster, cheaper, and more transparent currency transfers without relying on traditional correspondent banking networks.
The partnership also reinforces Wise Platform’s growing presence among top-tier challenger banks, joining a roster that includes names like Monzo, N26, and Aspire — all leveraging Wise to power international payments natively within their own ecosystems.

Final Thoughts
This move not only strengthens Wise’s presence in the Nordic fintech landscape but also gives Lunar a significant edge in its mission to become the region’s go-to everyday bank. As digital banking continues to evolve, partnerships like this highlight the growing demand for embedded finance — where users expect seamless global capabilities without the friction of third-party apps or hidden fees.
